PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
AMSOIL oil-wetted foam air filters keep oils
and engines cleaner for longer periods with the most effective air
filtration available today. AMSOIL air filters provide superior
performance in all three critical areas of filtration: efficiency
(dirt-stopping), capacity (dirt-holding) and resistance (air flow). AMSOIL
air filters are uniquely designed to hold wear-causing dirt while allowing
only clean air into the engine for better performance, better fuel
economy, lower exhaust emissions and longer engine life. Also, AMSOIL air
filters are washable and reusable for thousands of miles of trouble-free
service. Tests prove AMSOIL air filters have up to 350 percent greater
life expectancy than competitive air filters.
The AMSOIL TS Air Filter, for passenger vehicles, features two layers of
oil-wetted polyurethane foam, which provides a network of interlocking
cells that trap particles yet allow a constant flow of clean intake air
for outstanding engine protection and performance.
The AMSOIL POD Air Filter, for small engines, features an oil-wetted foam
filter element and an inner spring that shakes dirt off the filter and
harmlessly away from the engine.
Provide Full-Depth Filtration
AMSOIL TS and POD Air Filters are "full-depth"
filters that trap and hold much more dirt than do conventional
"surface-type" filters. The polyurethane foam used in AMSOIL Air Filters
is much thicker than the thin layer of paper used in conventional filters.
The foam's thickness allows for more filtering area and more capacity to
trap dirt over a longer period of time.
Improve Air Flow
AMSOIL
air filters allow more air into the engine than conventional air filters
do and better maintain their air flow over the life of the filter. The
intake surface of conventional paper filters quickly becomes obstructed
with dirt, which impedes air flow. AMSOIL air filters distribute dirt
throughout the foam depth, allowing unobstructed air intake to the engine.
Form Tight Seal
The flexible polyurethane foam of AMSOIL air
filters provides a consistent, tight seal between filter and housing.
Unlike conventional filters, which often fail to seal properly due to
their hard rubber seal, the foam of AMSOIL air filters conforms to
irregularities on the bottom and top of the housing, forming a tight seal
when the housing is secured. Intake air must go through the filter before
reaching the carburetor.
APPLICATION
AMSOIL air filters are available for most car
and small engine applications. The AMSOIL "Oil and Air Filters Application
Guide" (G-194) is a comprehensive reference guide covering most makes and
models of automobiles and light trucks. If you cannot find an AMSOIL air
filter to fit your application, please call the AMSOIL Technical Services
Department at (715) 392-7101 for availability and price quotes on filters
to fit your application.
The AMSOIL POD Air Filter is suited for applications such as motorcycles,
rototillers, small garden tractors, lawn mowers or farm implement
equipment. The AMSOIL POD Air Filter is adjustable to fit carburetor
throats ranging from 1 to 1-7/8 inches. It also has a special adapter for
Briggs & Stratton carburetors. Other throat sizes are available.
AMSOIL Oil
Filters
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The AMSOIL Super Duty Oil Filter (SDF) is
designed to provide maximum filtration while meeting the high flow demands
of modern automobiles. The AMSOIL SDF contains a high-tech media blend of
cellulose, fiberglass and synthetic fibers that offers the best possible
balance of long life, high capacity, and overall efficiency.
Traps Dirt Throughout Media Thickness
The AMSOIL SDF has a lofted fiber depth-type
media that traps dirt throughout its entire thickness for exceptional
filtering efficiency. It keeps oil clean and free of wear-causing
contaminants. The AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter provides up to 100 percent more
capacity and up to 20 percent greater efficiency than other filters
provide. It is ideal for use with extended oil drain intervals.
Built for Rugged Performance
The AMSOIL SDF has a heavy-duty case of drawn
steel. The case is double-crimped at the base with rolled-under seaming to
withstand extreme pressure surges and road shocks.
Assures Oil Flow with Relief Valve
A relief valve is provided to assure ample oil
flow and maintain proper engine oil pressure. It prevents oil starvation
in the engine in the event the oil filter by-pass valve in the engine
fails.
Prevents Oil Drainage During Engine Shutdown
On filter installations where the mounting is
sideways or upright, dirty oil could drain out of the filter when the
engine is shut off. The AMSOIL SDF has an anti-drainback valve that keeps
trapped contaminants in the filter when the engine is not run
What makes the
Super Duty Oil Filter superior to the competition?
1.
A high strength cellulose blend media offers superior contaminant holding
capacity compared to glass or synthetic media.
2. The heavy-duty
all-metal can provides powerful protection against burst and pulse damage.
3. A steel coil
spring helps the filter keep its shape and maintain a positive load
pressure on the adapter seal, which prevents leakage.
4. Two evenly spaced
glue bead supports help ensure flow through the entire pleat surface and
reduce media fatigue between oil changes. Flow through the entire pleat
and reduced media fatigue increase dirt particle capture.
5. A fluted-rib
steel spiral center tube offers excellent protection against pressure
surge damage.
6. A double-rolled,
tuck lock seam joining the heavy-duty baseplate to the can offers
outstanding protection against leakage, even during high pressure
operations.
7. A high-strength
gasket resists heat damage and corrosion for extended seal life
APPLICATION
AMSOIL INC. recommends changing the AMSOIL SDF
according to the following guidelines.
In gasoline-fueled engines using any AMSOIL motor oil except AMSOIL
XL-7500 Synthetic Motor Oil, change the filter at 12,500-mile or six-month
intervals, whichever comes first. In gasoline-fueled engines using AMSOIL
XL-7500 Synthetic Motor Oil, change the filter at 7,500-mile or six-month
intervals, whichever comes first.
In diesel-fueled large truck engines, change the filter(s) at the engine
manufacturer's recommended oil change interval. In diesel-fueled light
trucks, including pickups and vans, change the filter at 7,000-mile or
six-month intervals, whichever comes first.
When using an AMSOIL Oil Filter with conventional motor oils, refer to the
owner's manual for the recommended oil filter change interval.
AMSOIL By-Pass
Oil Filters
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filter provides the
best possible filtration protection against wear, oil degradation, rust
and corrosion. Working in conjunction with the engine's full-flow oil
filter, the AMSOIL By-Pass
Filter operates by filtering oil on a "partial-flow" basis. It draws
approximately ten percent of the oil at any one time and traps the
extremely small, wear-causing contaminants and water that full-flow
filters can't remove. The AMSOIL By-Pass Filter typically filters all the
oil in the system several times an hour, so the engine continuously
receives analytically clean oil.
Reduces Wear
Approximately 60 percent of all engine wear is
caused by dirt particles in the 5 to 20 micron range. These particles can
get inside the precision clearances between engine components and cause
severe damage. While full-flow oil filters generally stop contaminants no
smaller than 25 to 40 microns, the AMSOIL By-Pass Filter effectively stops
particles 1/10 of a micron in size, substantially reducing engine wear.
Prevents Oil Degradation, Rust and Corrosion
Water enters motor oil as a combustion
by-product or as a condensate. Water contamination of the motor oil can
cause extreme engine damage. Water causes metal surface rust and
corrosion, which increases friction and wear and deteriorates the
close-fitting tolerances between engine components. In addition, water
reacts with other oil contaminants
to form corrosive acids, which also damage metal components. The AMSOIL
By-Pass Filter removes water, reducing the risk of oil degradation, engine
rust and corrosion.
Extends Oil Drain Intervals
Because the AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filter removes
water and particles smaller than one micron, it significantly increases
the time oil can safely be left in the engine. In fact , engines using
AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil and an AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filter routinely show
much lower rates of engine wear - even when the oil is used for
significantly longer drain intervals - than engines using conventional
products and conventional oil drain intervals. That saves motorists time
and money and helps protect the environment by creating substantially less
used oil.
